I readily match content area & state standards to the craft of drystone masonry, preparing detailed lesson plans for each day of a residency. Host schools usually gain a permanent stone landscape feature as part of a residency, or repair of existing stonework.

Penland School of Crafts | Dry Stone Masonry Workshop | Penland, NC
The workshop will include classroom activities & hands-on restoration of stone features on the grounds of Penland School of Crafts. We will cover history, methodology, safety, tool selection and use, and formulas for figuring the time and materials you will need to complete your own project. I will have my booth at the Black Mountain Garden Show & Sale in Black Mountain, North Carolina on Saturday, May 21st 2016! The event is at the Monte Vista Hotel. Drystone Masonry Workshop at Penland School of Crafts
This 6-Day workshop will include a mix of classroom time & outdoor, hands-on stone moving, shaping & setting. Participants will learn globally-informed, best known practices for drystone masonry. October 14-24, 2020 Stone Symposium in Santa Fe, New Mexico
The 20th International Stone Symposium will be in Santa Fe, New Mexico from October 14-24, 2020. October 14-20 will include workshops on drystone masonry and architectural stone carving. Then, October 19-20 will include workshops in letter carving and gravestone restoration. Finally, October 24 will offer drystone building and rock balancing opportunities.
