Make Your Mark: Stonemasonry Workshops
Stonemasonry workshops will help you learn the craft of building with stone, in addition to designing your own project. Stone craftsman and educator, Joe Dinwiddie (aka Drystone Joe), teaches the science, art, and also the methodologies of stonemasonry. Learn how to design and also to build stonemasonry projects using best known practices in a one, two, or five-day stonemasonry workshop. In addition, you will have built a beautiful and most importantly, long lasting stone installation. In conclusion, you will also learn the steps, tools, time, and budget you need to complete your own stonemasonry project. As a result, you will be ready to start your own stonemasonry project!
Stonemasonry Workshop Activities:
Stonemasonry workshops include a multimedia classroom component. For example, you will engage in discussion, watch videos, look at books and magazines, create graph paper drawings, see stonework images, assemble a hands-on stone arch puzzle, handle tools, generate questions and answers, and see samples of different types of stone. The hands-on component includes all of the real-world aspects of shaping, moving, and setting stone, as well as use of a range of stonemasonry tools. In addition, you will leave the workshop with a drawing of your own stonemasonry project and the estimated tonnage of stone you will need. Similarly, you will have a list of the tools you need for your project. Most importantly, you will be familiar with safety considerations related to hands-on stonemasonry.
Drystone Joe’s Qualifications to Lead Stonemasonry Workshops:
Joe has been a stone craftsman since 1997. So, he brings 30 years of experience to every workshop.
